X FACTOR judge Cheryl Cole has given her blessing to the second family she shares with her divorced dad, Garry Tweedy, the Daily Star Sunday can reveal for the first time.



The Girls Aloud beauty has spoken of the three brothers and a sister her mum raised with her after the split with the star’s painter and decorator dad.

Now we can reveal how caring Cheryl, 25, nurtured her dad’s new family away from the spotlight of her showbiz career.

One family friend said: “Lots of people assume that just because Cheryl doesn’t talk much about her dad that there’s some sort of bad blood from her parents’ divorce.

“But nothing could be further from the truth. She’s got a whole second family that the world just doesn’t know about.”

Cheryl was just a youngster when her father Garry and mum Joan divorced. Garry, 45, went on to wed Joanne Baker, 37, when Cheryl was 19 and taking her first steps towards stardom.

The friend said: “Cheryl was distraught when her parents split up. She lived with her mum but always kept in touch with her dad.”

Garry and Joanne, her new stepbrother Lee, 21, and stepsister Gemma, 17, lived in a small, end-of-terrace house just two miles from Cheryl.

And the singer grew so close to her new family that five years ago she was a bridesmaid when Garry married care worker Joanne.

Joanne’s gran Ethel confirmed: “I’ve only met Cheryl a couple of times but she’s lovely. She was a bridesmaid for Joanne and did a wonderful job.”

Now friends say Cheryl’s step-family are “dead chuffed” to be part of her world. One said: “They’re really proud to be part of her family and of everything she’s achieved.

She’s also a real inspiration to them about what they can achieve.”

Meanwhile, Cheryl’s real mum Joan, 49, spends much of her time in London with Cheryl and her football star husband Ashley Cole.

Garry, Joan and Cheryl were not available for comment when we tried to contact them.
